Mentioned saves the things people mention to you — a restaurant, a book, a trail — by pulling them out of the posts and links you share with us, so you can find them again later.
To do that we hold on to some of your data. This page says what we hold, why, who else sees it, and how to make us delete it.
1. Who we are
Mentioned In, LLC, a Delaware limited liability company at 1111B S Governors Ave STE 23908, Dover, DE 19904, USA, runs Mentioned and is responsible for the data described here. In this policy we call ourselves "Mentioned", "we" or "us". You can reach us any time at [email protected].
2. What we collect
- Account information. When you sign in with Facebook, Apple or Google, we receive your name, email address, and the account identifier that provider gives us. We never receive or store your password for those services.
- Content you share. The posts and links you forward to Mentioned — content you've seen on Instagram and other social channels — including their text and any images.
- Entities and places we extract. The places, businesses, titles and names our AI provider identifies inside what you share, plus the map coordinates we look up for anything that looks like a place.
- Technical data. Basic information your device sends when you use the app — IP address, device and app version, and server logs — which we use to run and secure the service.
- Precise location. Only if you grant the location permission, and only to centre the map on where you are. We do not keep a history of where you have been.
Sensitive data. We do not ask for information about your health, beliefs, politics or anything similar. But the posts you share are free text and may contain such things incidentally. We do not use them to profile you, and we do not sell them. If you would rather something not be on our servers, delete the item — or email us and we will.
3. How we use it
- To provide the service — extracting places from what you share, mapping them, and saving them to your list.
- To keep the service running, secure and free of abuse.
- To respond when you contact us.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use the content you share to train AI models.
4. Who we share it with
We rely on a few service providers to run Mentioned. They process your data only to do their job for us, not for their own purposes.

We do not currently use analytics or crash-reporting services. We may also disclose data where the law requires it, and — if Mentioned is ever acquired or merged — to the acquiring party, who would stay bound by this policy until they gave you notice of any change.
5. Signing in with Facebook, Apple or Google
When you sign in through one of these providers, we receive only what you approve on the permission screen — typically your name, email address and profile picture. We do not receive your password or your friends list.
You can revoke our access at any time from that provider's settings. Doing so stops any further data reaching us; to remove what we already hold, follow the steps at /data-deletion.
Mentioned is an independent product. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Meta Platforms, Inc., Apple Inc., Google LLC, or any platform whose content you may share.
6. How long we keep it
We keep your account and saved content for as long as your account is open, and delete them when you ask us to. Copies in our routine encrypted backups are overwritten within about 30 days after that. Server logs are kept only briefly, for security.
7. Deleting your data
Email [email protected] from the address on your account and we will delete it. Full instructions are at /data-deletion.
8. Security
We encrypt data in transit using TLS and at rest on our servers. Access to production systems is limited to the people who need it and protected by multi-factor authentication. No system is perfectly secure, and we will not pretend otherwise, but we take reasonable care.
9. Children
Mentioned is not intended for anyone under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has given us personal data, email [email protected] and we will delete it.
10. Cookies
Our website uses only what it needs to work: a session cookie to keep you signed in and local storage to remember your preferences. We do not use tracking or advertising cookies. The mobile app does not use cookies; it stores your session token in your device's secure storage.
11. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will update the effective date above, and if a change materially affects how we use your data we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect.
